The Super Smash Bros video game saga is a roller coaster of nostalgia, innovation and, of course, unbridled fun. From its debut on the Nintendo 64 to its most recent installment on the Nintendo Switch, this franchise has evolved from a risky experiment to a cultural phenomenon.
Starting with Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64 in 1999, this game laid the groundwork for what would become the series: a platform brawler that brought together Nintendo’ s most iconic characters in an epic showdown. Featuring characters like Mario, Link, Samus and Pikachu, the game not only appealed to nostalgia but introduced a whole new way of looking at fighting games. Unlike typical games in the genre, in Smash Bros. the goal is to throw your opponents off the stage instead of simply depleting a life bar.
Then came Super Smash Bros. Melee for the GameCube in 2001, a game that elevated the series to new heights. With improved graphics, an expanded character roster and more polished gameplay, Melee quickly became a favorite for both casual and competitive play. Its speed and technique have kept it a mainstay in fighting game tournaments to this day.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii in 2008 introduced even more characters and “The Subspace Emissary” story mode, a narrative that united characters from different universes in an epic adventure. Brawl also marked the first time characters from outside Nintendo, such as Sonic and Solid Snake, joined the fray.
Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, released in 2014, brought the series to portable and high-definition, respectively. With an even larger roster of characters and the introduction of amiibo figures, these games continued to expand the Smash universe.
Finally, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch in 2018 is, as the name suggests, the culmination of the series so far. Featuring all playable characters from previous installments, plus new ones, Ultimate is the ultimate Smash experience, offering unprecedented variety and a tribute to video game history.

As with most video games, designers usually create the font styles for the game in question, since the goal is to have a unique and different visual identity and copying an existing font that anyone can have is not the same, is it?
The Smash Bros font was designed exclusively for the game, even if it is aesthetically similar to certain existing fonts. But fans of the game (who will be graphic designers or design enthusiasts, at least) have created a font from which we can find in the various installments of Super Smash Bros, and you can download for free for personal use, this means that you can use it as long as you do not profit with the result of your project.
